On the 13th floor of an industrial building in Chai Wan, you’ll find Chaiwanese Café. It’s really a hidden gem! Here, you can enjoy a fantastic lunch and escape the crowded city. They serve delicious sandwiches, fresh juices, coffee and many more good stuff for a very acceptable price! You can have a lunch set for around 7 euro!

Chaiwanese in the industrial area of Chai Wan

Why is it situated in an industrial area? The answer is very simple. If you want to buy or rent in Hong Kong, you either have to be super rich or you have to be born with a silver spoon. The owner Jehan, originally from New York, moved to Hong Kong 7 years ago and he immediately fell in love with the loft-buildings around this industrial area in Chai Wan. The rental prices were extremely lower and Jehan took the chance to open a warehouse café, which in our view has definitely succeeded!

The interior is very simple, because the building has been kept mostly in its original state. This is due to their beautiful high ceilings, where you can still see the pipes, their concrete floor and fun industrial lamps. Less is more and we love it!
