A few weeks ago was the opening of New York Basement. The name says it all, the restaurant is located in the basement of Hotel New York at De Kop van Zuid. A trendy restaurant and cocktailbar where you find yourself in the stylish Twenties and Thirties. We love the beautiful ornaments and colorful patterns!
NY Basement is a lot smaller than Hotel New York itself. The restaurant is more intimate and cozier. After dinner you can enjoy the classic and exotic cocktails such as: Whiskey sour or the familiar (stirred, not shaken) Dry Martini at the pretty bar of 11 meters long!
The menu consists several main dishes and lots of small dishes that you can share together. We had a delicious steak and three dishes (scallops, prawns and risotto) to share. The price is a bit on the high side for what you get, but the flavors on your plate make it all worth it! Finally, we both had a delicious dessert with a lemon tart, homemade hazelnut ice cream with salted caramel (yummy!)
NY Basement is definitely worth a visit. Also if you only want to go there for a drink. Once you get downstairs it seems like this restaurant has always been there…
